Who we are
Bazart is a vibrant youth movement ('jeugdbeweging') dedicated to exploring art and culture through playful experimentation. Every Saturday, children between the ages of 6 and 18 get together in 10 different cities throughout Flanders. Drawing inspiration from the unique character of each city, we transform them into our artistic playgrounds.
Youth movement of the arts
Bazart takes art and heritage in all their forms as its starting point, ranging from theatre and visual arts to street art and poetry. Thanks to an extensive network of cultural partners, our members regularly visit museums, theatre halls, public art installations, etc. However, Bazart does not simply observe art, but encourages its members to explore their own artistic creativity. From painting murals in the style of Sol LeWitt, dancing with sticky tape, or creating artistic creations out of food scraps: anything is possible! Bazart seeks out—and finds—artistic inspiration everywhere.
With, by and for all children and adults
Bazart is fueled by an enthusiastic team of young volunteers who are committed to Bazart's mission and vision. We invest in supporting, training and inspiring our volunteers to ensure the continued quality and impact of our movement. Volunteers from the age of 16 can obtain an 'animatorattest' after following our 'animator' course. We also organise an instructor course ('instructeurscursus') for those wishing to deepen their knowledge on youth work.
Bazart commits to fostering an inclusive environment for its members and staff. We strive to centre our members' talents, interests and potential instead of their limits. In order to do so, we invest in lowering barriers for children and young adults on all accounts: financial, socio, economical, physical, practical, cultural, and linguistic.
BAMM: our mother organisation
Bazart is a BAMM initiative. BAMM commits to making art and heritage accessible to children and young adults. It firmly believes in the transformative power of artistic education, fostering personal growth and development. In addition to its extensive range of workshops across various artistic disciplines, BAMM also organizes a number of artistic and participatory projects, like Bazart. At the foundation of each of these projects is BAMM's unique and self-developed methodology.
